Your input never leaves your browser

Controller Test is a local-only diagnostic tool. Button presses, stick positions, trigger travel and vibration commands are read and processed inside your browser tab and are not transmitted to any server.

Who we are

This policy covers the website controller-test.com and every diagnostic page hosted on it. It explains what information is and is not handled when you use the tester. If you have a question about anything below, reach us through the contact page.

Controller data

Every reading produced by a test stays in the memory of the browser tab you are using. Axis values, button states, trigger travel, polling timings, latency measurements, rumble commands, gyro output and MIDI messages are rendered on screen and discarded when you close or reload the page. We do not log them, store them, or send them anywhere. We also do not upload the name, vendor ID or product ID of your gamepad.

What we do collect

  • Hosting logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data such as page URL, referrer, user agent and a coarse region derived from IP address, for security and abuse prevention. These logs are not linked to controller usage.
  • Aggregate analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, how many people visit and which devices they use. It reports in aggregate and receives no controller input.
  • Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type so we can reply. We keep those messages only as long as needed to handle the conversation.

Cookies and local storage

The site itself does not set tracking cookies. Analytics and advertising partners may set their own cookies or similar identifiers in your browser, as described below. Any local storage used by a diagnostic tool, for example remembering a preferred dead-zone setting, stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time from your browser settings, and the tools will still work.

Advertising

The site is free and is supported by display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies via aboutads.info. Advertising partners never receive controller input, because that data never leaves your device.

Permissions

The Gamepad API requires a physical button press before it exposes any data, which is enforced by the browser and not by us. Some advanced tools such as PS controller calibration use WebHID, which asks for explicit permission for a specific device. MIDI tests request access to MIDI devices in the same way. You can revoke any of these permissions at any time from your browser site settings, and no permission is required to read this page or browse the tools index.

Children

The site is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold almost nothing beyond contact-form messages and aggregate analytics, most requests are simple to fulfil. Send the request through the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Third parties

Besides our hosting provider, Google Analytics and Google AdSense, we do not embed third-party trackers, session replay tools or social media pixels. If this ever changes, we will update this page and note the change on the home page before it goes live.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top of the page always reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
